LUNCHTIME bystanders were in shock after a massive tree uprooted and fell across an inner-city street in wild Sydney weather today.
The tree came down in Devonshire Street, Surry Hills. It was planted in the footpath outside a hairdresser.
There have been high winds in Sydney, gusting up to 35 kilometres per hour.
Onlookers say they heard a loud crack, and then the tree came down slowly, as if in slow motion.
The tree hit powerlines and a rental car parked on Buckingham Street.
Police and Emergency Services arrived quickly to manage the onlookers.
A Fire Rescue worker on the scene said they were still investigating, but no one had been confirmed injured as yet.
