Sydney FC vs. Adelaide United FC - Sydney Morning Herald

4:05pm: In case you missed it earlier this afternoon, Socceroos' legend Lucas Neill has agreed terms to sign with Sydney FC , with the Sky Blues nipping in ahead of the Melbourne Heart and Brisbane Roar.

4:02pm: Sydney FC v Adelaide United at Allianz Stadium, 5.30pm

Head to Head: Sydney FC 11, drawn 3, Adelaide 11

Last clash: Adelaide 3 bt Sydney 0 at Hindmarsh Stadium, Dec 2012

Tab Sportsbet: Sydney FC $2.25, draw $3.50, Adelaide $2.85

AAP writes: Sydney FC finally clawed their way back into the top six with a gutsy 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar and this looks a good opportunity to give their finals hopes another big boost.

The Reds scored their first win under Michael Valkanis as they beat Melbourne Victory 1-0 at home but they remain vulnerable away from home, losing four and drawing one of their past five.

Sydney’s cause is not helped by Brett Emerton and Ali Abbas joining Joel Griffiths on the suspension list but they do have Terry McFlynn and Yairo Yau back.

Valkanis will have to watch the match from the stands after receiving a one-game ban for abusing the referee last week.

Key: Even at 38, Alessandro Del Piero continues to prove an out-and-out match winner and his form and fitness looks ominous heading towards the finals.

Tip: Sydney FC
