Katy Perry's first night in Sydney spent avoiding the public eye - The Daily Telegraph

KATY Perry once admonished a lover in song for being "hot and cold", but last night it was only the latter from the pop sensation on her first night in Sydney.



The 29-year-old, in town for a concert promoting her third album Prism, was a lady of few words as she enjoyed a drink at Surry Hills' Trinity Bar before making a mad dash across the city for the 6.45pm session of Gravity 3D.

"Don't you guys get bored?" Perry asked a troupe of paparazzi photographers on her way out of the bar.

Inside, the California Gurls singer dined on a selection of garlic bread, soft shell tacos and swilled Veuve Clicquot champagne. Others in the throng sipped on Carlton Draught, a Little Creatures beer and Bloody Mary cocktails.

Donning thick leopard print sunglasses, a brown jumper, jeans and Converse All Star shoes, Perry was in no mood to talk to The Daily Telegraph, ignoring repeated questions.


"We're just trying to enjoy our Sunday afternoon," said a woman with Perry.

After an early dinner, Perry - with seven roadies and two heavy-set security guards - raced north along George Street to Darling Harbour in a black Mercedes van.

Perry was forced to line up for a ticket at a busy Imax theatre and did not look pleased when she had to queue to use the ladies' room before the session.
