Katy Perry took a break from her busy schedule on Sunday to explore the countryside in Sydney, Australia.

But unlike many stars of her global stature, the 29-year-old ditched the tourbus to explore the beautiful city on a simple pedal bike.

However, the California Gurl didn't follow the safety rule of the Australian city which requires all riders to wear 'an approved helmet – worn at all times. This applies to all riders regardless of age,' according to NSW roads.

The Roar singer arrived Down Under in advance of a much anticipated appearance on Australian X-Factor on Monday but the star will also be promoting her latest album, Prism.

But before heading back to work, down-to-earth Katy and her crew enjoyed on a bike ride through Sydney's Centennial Park, however not one of them was wearing a helmet.

It's quite possible that being from laidback Cali, where riding without a helmet is standard, Katy didn't know she was breaking the rules.

But it's strange that her team allow a $75M superstar to undertake a potentially risky activity in a new city without taking all safety precautions.

The pop star, who just celebrated her 29th birthday, looked comfortable and cozy wearing a brown long-sleeve sweater, which covered up a red and white patterned top.

She rounded off the outfit with a pair of grey ripped skinny jeans, and converse sneakers.

Katy shielded her eyes with dark sunglasses and her dark locks were pulled back in a tight bun.

The singer apparently is confident enough in her bike-riding skills because she didn't feel the need to wear her helmet, which hung on the bike handle in front of her.

After riding around, the star parked her wheels and decided to get in some shopping on foot.

She visited some of Sydney's trendiest shops in Bondi, an eastern suburb of Sydney, including Ksubi and Tuchuzy as well as a few recycled clothing stores.

Katy also hit stores on Crown Street in Surry Hills, stopping at Route 66, Wheels & Doll Baby and Grandma Takes a Trip.

After that spending spree, she relaxed with her entourage for a drink at the Ravesis bar.

Last Thursday the star expressed her excitement about her trip tweeting, 'IT'S PRISM DAY DOWN UNDER!!! Can't wait to see you SO soon! Ima comin for you with my PRISM OZ!!!'
