A CANLEY HEIGHTS house has been sprayed with bullets in the latest drive-by shooting in Sydney's west overnight.
Police responded to reports shots had been fired in Welwyn Rd around 9pm on Wednesday night.
Officers located gunshot damage to the front door of a house and number of spent cartridges were taken for forensic examination.
The single occupant of the home, a middle-aged woman, was not injured and police have been told a vehicle was heard leaving the area shortly after the shooting.
Cabramatta acting Insp Troy Williams said police recovered three cartridges and the bullets had pierced the front door, penetrating the house.
Police couldn't say what calibres of bullets were fired and if the shots were fired from a pistol, rifle or machinegun.
He also couldn't confirm if the home was linked to bikies but said it appeared the shooting was targeted.
"All of these shootings have underlying motives, they are not random. We can't say at this stage if it is specifically linked to the recent shootings," he said.
"The matter has been given the highest priority and an incident of this nature is very serious.
"It's always a concern when shots are fired into a house."
Cabramatta Police, assisted by detectives from the State Crime Command's Operation Apollo which was setup to put an end to the plague of shootings dominating Sydney's suburbs, are investigating the incident.
The shooting is the seventh this month which has left two men dead and three men injured as a bloody bikie feud between different chapters of the Hells Angels and Commanchero escalates.
Police have stressed not all the shootings are related or part of a wider, well-organised war.
Criminal figures may be using the war between the Hells Angels and Commanchero to settle old scores, police have said.
Last night's shooting is the 248th since the O'Farrell Government took office in March, 2011.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
