Kristi Anne Abrahams has admitted to killing her six-year-old daughter Kiesha Weippeart.
In the Supreme Court in Sydney, Abrahams, 29, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her daughter and to interfering with her remains.
But her guilty plea to manslaughter was not accepted by the Crown and she will stand trial for murder next month.
Kiesha was reported missing from her home at Mt Druitt in western Sydney, on August 1, 2010.
Abrahams was charged with murder after human remains were discovered in bushland at Mt Druitt eight months later in April 2011 - on what would have been Kiesha's seventh birthday.
Crown prosecutor Christopher Maxwell, QC, told the court the main issue in the trial would be whether the Crown could prove Abrahams had the necessary state of mind to commit murder.
She will stand trial on June 17.
