MATTHEW Jurman has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with his former club, Sydney FC.
The 23-year-old defender was released by Brisbane Roar, opening the door for the Sky Blues to bring him back to Sydney.
Jurman came through the youth ranks at Sydney FC and spent three seasons at the club before moving to Brisbane in 2011, where he won one A-League title.
Sydney did attempt to lure Jurman back during the season to address their defensive woes, but the Roar refused to offload him.
"Matt Jurman is a good left-sided defender and he's a valuable addition to our team," Sydney FC coach Frank Farina said.
"We need to bolster the defence and Matt's arrival does that. He's a proven A-League player so I'm expecting him to step up and play an important part in 2013/14."
It's Sydney's first recruitment of the off-season, but it's understood the club are in discussions with several players as they look to bolster their squad for next season.
