Sydney electrician brought back to life by mates - Ninemsn

Electrician Matthew McKee suffered a massive electric shock and died on a job at Merrylands - until quick-thinking friends taking action brought him back to life.

A Sydney electrician has lived to tell the tale after suffering a massive electric shock while repairing power lines on a suburban street.

Matthew McKee's heart stopped beating for 20 minutes on the job at Merrylands recently, Nine News reports.

"It was like being constricted really tightly in your arms and upper torso and you just can't move," said the 38-year-old, describing how the jolt touched his thumb before running down his arm and to his heart.

As Mr McKee's life hung in the balance, his quick-thinking workmates performed CPR.

Emergency workers say their 600 chest compressions saved the young father-of-two.

"I owe my life to those guys," said Mr McKee, who is married and has a four-year-old girl and six-month-old boy.

The electrician was taken to hospital but after some check-ups walked out later the same day.

"It was basically a second chance at life that we've all been given," his wife Tracey said.
