A five-month-old girl has died after being found unconscious in a home at Villawood, in Sydney's west.
Police set up a crime scene at the house on Goondah Street after being called there this morning.
Officers performed CPR on the girl but she died at Liverpool Hospital a short time later.
A post mortem is still to be carried out.
Detective Inspector Glen Fitzgerald says the family is known to police.
"The whole situation is very sensitive," he said.
"The parents are devastated, it's a difficult circumstance as you could understand and has been for the entire day."
Police say anyone with information about the girl's death should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
