Police hunt Sydney ATM scammers - NEWS.com.au

NEW images have been released of men wanted by police for questioning over a card-skimming scam defrauding bank customers across Sydney.

Police believe up to three separate groups with links to Romania are involved in installing sophisticated skimming devices on to ATMs in the Sydney metropolitan area.

The devices copy bank card details, while a tiny video camera records the victim entering their personal identification number.

Two people have been arrested and remain before the courts, but investigations are continuing to find other gang members.

The group use the latest in miniature skimming technology, meaning suspect devices are particularly difficult to detect.

Police say they have struck ATMs at Narellan, Mosman and Five Dock.

Anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV images released on Tuesday should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

An increase in card skimming activities led to the establishing of NSW police's Strike Force Bournemouth in June.

Strike Force detectives work with banks to detect the skimmers and any unauthorised transactions on accounts.
