SIX children were taken to hospital after their bus was involved in a three-vehicle pile-up at North Sydney today.
About 23 children and five adults were on board the bus as part of a day care excursion when the accident happened on the Warringah Freeway, just after 9.30am.
Harbourside Police said the crash involved a mini-bus and two cars.
"The bus was travelling south when two cars ahead braked suddenly.
The bus driver was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of one of the vehicles," Sergeant Chad Ansted said.
"That vehicle then smashed into the back of another vehicle."
The children, aged between 5 and 12, were on their way to Sydney Aquarium on a day trip.
Paramedics said all three drivers were unhurt but some bus passengers sustained minor injuries.
"Six children were transported to Royal North Shore Hospital with bumps and bruises," an Ambulance NSW spokeswoman said.
The children have since been discharged.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.
