Brisbane Roar coach Mike Mulvey has declared his resurgent side will take it right up to faltering A-League high-flyers Central Coast in Sunday's clash in Gosford.
The second-placed Mariners are without a win in four games, three of them losses, and are coming off successive defeats for the first time this season.
Central Coast also have to overcome any lingering effects of travel fatigue caused by their mid-week Asian Champions League game in Japan. Conversely, finals-chasing Brisbane will have had an eight-day break between matches and have resurrected their campaign in recent weeks.
The Roar have lost just one of their past seven games but entered the round one point outside the top six.
''We're just on a bit of a roll. It feels good, but we're not getting complacent,'' Mulvey said.
''We know there's a very tough game ahead of us on Sunday, so we're really looking forward to it, to tell you the truth.
''What we are going to do is we're going to take the game to them.
''We're going to make it a tough contest, because we're going to press them, and we're going to see what they are like at the end of 90 minutes. Because to me that could be an advantage to us because I know how difficult it is travelling back from overseas to perform.
''But they are a very good side, very well coached, very well structured, very well organised.''
Brisbane have a good record in Gosford, having lost just once in 14 outings at Bluetongue Stadium. The Mariners, who entered the round five points behind Western Sydney, are determined to refocus after their 3-1 loss to Japan's Kashiwa Reysol. ''We've moved on quickly. We've had to,'' Mariners central defender Zac Anderson said.
''We've got plenty to play for. We're really confident going into this game on Sunday.''
