COUNTRY cutie pie Taylor Swift finally touched down in Sydney yesterday in preparation for her starring role in this Thursday's ARIA Awards and immediately showed why she is considered one of music's most "down-to-earth".

The singer opted out of the secret celebrity airport exit favoured by other visiting celebrities, instead wading through hordes of fans while all along stopping to sign autographs and pose for pictures.

The We Are Never, Ever Getting Back Together singer will make her first big appearance this morning on Today and it's understood the self-proclaimed shop-a-holic is also keen to squeeze in some retail therapy while she's here.

Or perhaps that should be more retail therapy. Multiple sightings from readers yesterday had Swift carving a swath through the CBD's retail district including the odd meanswear store, possibly picking up a gift for her rumoured new beau, Harry Styles of One Direction.

Comedian Russell Brand will present an ARIA award: "I am honoured to present an ARIA award because I like the shape of them - like a sex toy for a pervert robot."
