A 16-year-old boy shot in the ankle in a driveway in Sydney's southwest is refusing to co-operate with police.
The teenager had been standing in the driveway with friends at a unit block in Greenacre Road when residents heard a number of shots being fired about 1am (AEDT) on Friday.
The boy was hit in the ankle and taken to Liverpool Hospital where he was to undergo surgery, although his injury isn't life-threatening.
Inspector Scott McAlpine said the victim was not co-operating with police.
"There's nothing to suggest this is gang related at this time. The victim has no previous dealings with police," he told ABC Radio. But he said possible gang links were a line of inquiry.
