November 18, 2013: It's a violent confrontation caught on camera between a young mum and a transport worker at a local bus stop. But why did it turn ugly?
Vision of a heated exchange at a Sydney bus stop shows the moment a woman was thrown to the ground by a bus marshall in front of her two young children.
The incident unfolded outside Blacktown train station at 4pm on Sunday after the 24-year-old woman became "aggressive" towards a Transport Sydney employee for giving her the wrong directions and making her late for a hospital appointment.
The mobile phone footage shows the woman hitting the 45-year-old bus marshall with her shopping bag before she is pushed to the ground.
She gets back up and tries to take the man's clipboard but he knocks her legs out from underneath her.
The two teenagers who filmed the exchange said the woman's children were hysterical as they watched their mother hit the ground.
"This chick could've easily died with that head blow to the ground," Dylan Ryan told A Current Affair.
"[Her children] were just screaming… they were trying to help the mum but they were too young, they weren't going to be able to do anything," Kody O'Brien said.
Despite the woman's behaviour, the teenagers said the bus marshall should have handled the situation better.
"It would have been hard to handle but what he should've done is walked away and got someone else to sort it out. The way he was trying to get through to her, she didn't want to listen," Mr O'Brien said.
The woman refused treatment from paramedics and while police were called to investigate her behaviour, they said the bus marshall didn't want to press charges.
