Overhead wires fall on Sydney trains - Ninemsn

A series of overhead wires falling onto a train has caused commuter chaos on Sydney's rail network.

More than a thousand passengers were evacuated from two trains about 100m from St Marys station in the city's west about 6.30am this morning.

Sydney Trains are now conducting urgent repairs to move the tangled wires but major delays are to be expected.

The Western and Blue Mountains lines remain partially closed but replacement buses are running, Sydney Trains has announced.

Commuters have been advised to delay their journey if they are able or to travel to Blacktown or Richmond stations for alternate trains.

Year 12 students about to sit HSC exams are also advised to speak to station staff.
