A man has claimed he was warming up in a Sydney park ahead of a gym session when he was shot in the leg.


NSW police say the man had been vague but told officers an unknown person shot him overnight.


The 23-year-old presented himself to Bankstown Hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning with a gunshot wound to his right calf.


He told police he had been warming ahead of a gym session in Punchbowl when he was shot.The man is in a stable condition, according to police.


Bankstown Police and Strike Force Talon are attempting to locate a crime scene.


Police are calling for anyone with information about the shooting or suspicious behaviour overnight to come forward.
