Escapee arrested in Sydney's south - Ninemsn

An escaped prisoner has been recaptured while hiding under a trailer after a police chase in Sydney's southwest.

The 29-year-old man was last seen at Parklea Correctional Facility on Saturday morning, while working at a minimum-security kitchen area.

Traffic police say they spotted the the man in a car they stopped in South Penrith on Thursday night, but the car sped away when they approached it.

They chased it, but the pursuit was called off shortly afterwards due to safety concerns.

Officers say they found the man, with the help of POLAIR, about 40 minutes later hiding under a truck trailer in Yagoona.

He was arrested and taken to Bankstown Hospital where he remains under police guard while receiving treatment for a broken arm.

The man has been charged with several offences and will appear before Bankstown Local Court on Friday.
