Academics and other staff will picket outside Sydney University as a stand-off over pay and workload continues.
National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) and Community and Public Sector Union members at the university are expected to strike from 7am (AEST) on Wednesday.
The 24-hour industrial action follows rallies at the same university last month in which protesters clashed with police and reportedly blocked vehicles from entering the campus by sitting on roads.
An NTEU flyer says this latest action comes after 10 months of enterprise bargaining and is designed to bolster job security.
In a memo to staff last week, the university's human resources director Boyd Williams said it would be business as usual on Wednesday.
"The NTEU has said that it will be picketing all main entrances to campus," he wrote.
"We suggest that you stop, listen and then politely proceed to enter the campus."
