Sydney Aiport to double passengers by 2033 - Yahoo!7 News

Sydney's domestic and international terminals will be integrated and surrounding roads reconfigured as part of a 20-year airport masterplan, Fairfax Media and News Limited report.

A draft plan, to be released on Wednesday, sets out how the airport plans to double the number of passengers it handles annually by 2033 to 74 million, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

The figure is down from previous estimates of 79 million by 2029. Last year it handled 37 million passengers.

The report plays down the need for a second airport.

"While we support the identification by government of a site for a second Sydney airport, our planning shows that we'll be able to meet demand well beyond 2033," airport chief executive Kerrie Mather told the newspaper.

Meanwhile, The Daily Telegraph reports that a new five-lane road at the domestic terminals will allow vehicles to exit the airport much faster.
