Sydney teen dies after taking illicit drug - Yahoo!7 News

A 17-year-old Sydney teenager has died after ingesting a substance sold to him as LSD.

The boy fell from the third floor balcony last night at his Killara home on Sydney's north shore.

Police were told the boy had ingested a tab of LSD and had been acting out of character.

They have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man with supplying a prohibited drug. He was bailed to appear in Hornsby Local Court in early July.

Although they are yet to determine the exact substance the boy ingested, his behaviour is similar to those who have taken 25B-NBOMe and 25I-NBOMe.

Previously a teenager was hit by a car after taking the substance, and in another incident, a group of teens stripped naked and ran through the streets of Sydney’s North Shore.

Police are warning teenagers to reconsider experimenting with illicit drugs.

Drug Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Nick Bingham says there have been an increase of reports of teenagers and young adults acting recklessly after ingesting 25B-NBOMe and 25I-NBOMe.

“What we are seeing with 25B-NBOMe and 25I-NBOMe is that people are engaging in reckless, risky behaviour, such as running into traffic, having psychedelic crises which cause anxiety, panic attacks, acute paranoia and fear, as well as undressing due to feeling overheated.

“That’s not to mention the countless people who have experienced adverse reactions, including some who have died, after taking different illicit and synthetic drugs.”

Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: www1.police.nsw.gov.au.
