Most of Sydney’s ferry services have been cancelled this morning due to strike action.

Staff walked off the job at 10am, disrupting most services until the strike action finishes at 2pm.

Harbour Cities Ferries, the private operator of Sydney’s ferry services, said it would head to Fair Work Australia to get an injunction against the action.

‘‘The Maritime Union of Australia has called the unsanctioned industrial action but has failed to notify Harbour City Ferries Management of the reason for the stop work,’’ it said.

The Taronga Zoo ferry was the only service that would run to timetable, but all other services would be cancelled, the company said.

Sydney Fast Ferries and Manly Fast Ferries have not been affected.

Transport for NSW said Harbour Cities Ferries passengers would be able to use tickets for travel on a bus or train.

Shuttle buses are also running between Manly and Circular Quay.
