Video has emerged of a group of Asian tourists being racially abused on a Sydney bus.

It shows a Caucasian man shouting and swearing at the tourists, who are believed to be Korean.

He asks them why they came to Australia and rants about the Japanese bombing of Australia in World War II.

The latter part of the incident was filmed by a woman known only as Heidi, who says the man repeatedly yelled, "Do you speak English?" along with a raft of obscenities.

Heidi says she was shocked that fellow passengers told her to "shush" when she told the man to get off the bus.

"It disgusts me more when we get told we shouldn't stand up for what's right or worse, feel that the victims should apologise for provoking bad behaviour," she wrote on YouTube.

Transport authorities in Sydney are investigating the incident, which is just the latest of a number of public transport abuses that have been caught on camera.

In November, a video of passengers abusing a French-speaking woman on a Melbourne bus also went viral.
