THE growth of the middle class in emerging markets, especially in Asia, will underpin high commodity prices and position Australia as a base to export hi-tech mining products to the world, according to one of the world's most powerful chief executives.
Jeff Immelt, chairman and chief executive of US industrial giant GE, said yesterday the company wanted to collaborate closely with the proponents of multi-billion-dollar natural gas projects in Australia to develop software analytics that bolstered productivity in the booming sector.
