A PROTEST in Sydney's CBD could cause big disruptions to peak hour traffic on Wednesday night, police warn.
In a statement, police said a rally at Sydney Town Hall and followed by a protest walk through the CBD was due to take place between 6pm and 8pm (AEST).
The protesters plan to leave the Town Hall and proceed down King Street, Pitt Street, Market Street and George Street.
Police said the event could potentially cause "extensive traffic disruption" in the area.
They say they are working on a plan to minimise the impact of the rally on peak hour traffic.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the the CBD between 5pm and 7pm.
