May 14, 2013: Commuter traffic ground to a halt on Sydney's M4 motorway after a car was reportedly clipped by a truck before bursting in to flames.
A car exploded into flames on a Sydney motorway this morning after it clipped a passing truck and rolled.
A NSW police spokeswoman said the car was travelling on the M4 motorway in Sydney's west just before 5am when it was believed to have clipped a petrol tanker, flipped and ignited.
The car's sole male passenger managed to escape the vehicle unhurt.
Fire crews were called to the scene and the car was later towed.
The incident caused westbound delays for about an hour but all lanes have since been opened.
A police investigation is under way into the cause of the crash.
