Two Sydney children have died from apparent drownings in separate Western Sydney homes this afternoon.
Ambulance officers were called to a Fairfield home at 5:15pm (AEST) after an 11-month-old boy was found with his head in a bucket of water.
A short time later, a three-year-old boy was found in a swimming pool in at Greystanes home.
Both children were rushed to Westmead Children's Hospital but later died.
Police said the boy at Fairfield had wandered into the bathroom after being left unattended.
They said in a statement that an older sibling found him with his head in a bucket of water.
The boy's parent performed CPR as a family friend called emergency services.
Meanwhile, police say the boy at Greystanes had been missing for 10 minutes when the adult men looking after him found him in the swimming pool.
Police said the men searched the house before they checked the pool.
They called triple-0 and by the time police had arrived he had already been taken to Westmead Children's hospital.
He arrived in a critical condition, but later died.
Police said reports are being prepared for the coroner.
