A MAN who died on his buck's night after falling down a stairwell at a Sydney hotel last night was expected to marry in June.

The 26-year-old is believed to be from NSW's far north coast originally. His family are travelling to Sydney to talk to police.

The young man was a civil engineer.

Police rushed to a pub on George Street, Sydney, about 10.30pm, after reports that a man had fallen down a stairwell.

The man was found lying unconscious at the bottom of the stairwell with severe head injuries.

Security staff and an off-duty police officer performed CPR on the man before he was taken by paramedics to St Vincent’s Hospital.

He died a short time later.

It’s understood the man, who had been celebrating his buck’s night with mates, was attempting to slide down a handrail between level three and two when he lost his balance and fell backwards to the ground.
