5:59pm: HOCKEY: Australia wins the Champions Trophy! A thrilling golden goal from Kieran Govers five minutes into extra time did the job. A packed Melbourne crowd came to its feet. The Kookaburras win their five trophy in sensational style, beating the the Netherlands 2-1. It was an enthralling extra time period after the scores were tied 1-1 after normal time.

5:56pm: BOXING: A bloodied Juan Manuel Marquez has knocked out Manny Pacquiao with a right hand with one second left in the sixth round to win their welterweight fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The 39-year-old Mexican sent Pacquiao face first to the canvas, giving him his first victory over the Filipino star in the fourth fight of their epic rivalry.
Marquez ended the fight with a overhand right that hit Pacquiao flush, sending Pacquiao down hard.
Pacquiao landed under the ropes and lay there for a couple of minutes before getting up and returning to his corner.

5:48pm: HOCKEY: The Champions Trophy final goes to extra-time with the scores locked at 1-1 after the regulation period. Golden goal rules are in play so don't tune out for a minute! Australia chasing another title but the Netherlands are tough opponents.
5:25pm: GOLF: New Zealand golfer Michael Hendry claimed the clubhouse lead during the wind-marred final round of the Australian Open at The Lakes.
After a three-hour suspension in play, Hendry overcame gusts of up to 80kph to sign off with a dogged one-under 71 and finish with a 72-hole total of even-par 278.
With the leaders only having just teed off a few shots ahead, Hendry was hoping his score held up if the brutal conditions persisted late this afternoon.
Veteran Nick O'Hern, who took a triple-bogey seven on the 10th hole immediately before the suspension, bogeyed the last hole to finish at one over for the championship following his last-round 72.
Knowing how vital it was to post a number, Brett Rumford was minutes earlier too distraught to talk after taking a double-bogey on the last hole to also finish at one over.

5:08pm: HOCKEY: It's currently 1-1 in the Champions Trophy final between Australia and the Netherlands in Melbourne. With little more than 23 minutes to play, the clash is set for a thrilling finish as the Kookaburras chase a fifth successive title.

4:55pm: SOCCER: Some good news for Sydney FC supporters. Frank Farina has kick-started his coaching reign at the Sky Blues with a 2-1 away win over Wellington Phoenix. It was just the third win of the season for the under-seige team. They won without marquee signing Alessandro Del Piero. Defender Sebastian Ryall fired home a 46th minute header to open the scoring and then Rhyan Grant knocked in the second with a right-foot strike on 70 minutes. Jeremy Brockie scored for Phoenix with a 90th minute penalty. Read a full match report HERE .

4:36pm: CRICKET: The third Test beween India and England has finished in Kolkota with the visitors putting the finishing touches on the victory on day five. England now leads the series 2-1 with India beaten in back-to-back home Tests for the first time in 13 years. England got to 3-41 in the fourth innings to complete the win. Their first innings of 523 (featuring 190 from Alastair Cook) set up the result. The fourth Test takes place in Nagpur from Thursday.

3:40pm: HOCKEY: The weather is bright and warm in Melbourne today and the countdown is on to the Australia-Netherlands final in the Champions Trophy tournament. AAP reports that Pakistan has won the bronze medal, beating India 3-2 at Melbourne’s State Hockey Centre.
The Pakistanis fought back from a goal down after India’s VR Raghunath netted early. But Muhammad Rizwan Senior equalised midway through the first half, before Pakistan took the lead early in the second with a neat goal to Shafqat Rasool.
Both sides had their chances in a free-flowing match, before Muhammad Ateeq’s drag flick with five minutes left sealed bronze for Pakistan. India netted a consolation goal through Rupinder Pal Singh with the last play of the match.
3:11pm: SOCCER: There are two matches this afternoon to complete week 10 of the A-League season. Bottom-of-the-ladder Sydney FC are playing away to Wellington United. Track live scores and player stats on our A-League match centre. Western Sydney hosts Brisbane Roar at 6pm (AEDT).
2:29pm: GOLF: Play was set to resume at the Australian Open golf this afternoon after fierce winds earlier forced a three-hour suspension. Tournament boss Trevor Herden said the final round would continue just before 3pm (AEDT) after officials had no alternative but to halt proceedings before midday when wind gusts of 80kph knocked down a television tower near the 18th green.
2:28pm: SOCCER: Time to catch up on some overnight action from the world game. Fernando Torres claimed a brace as Chelsea ended a run of seven Premier League games without victory by prevailing 3-1 at Sunderland in their last game before the Club World Cup. The Spaniard had not scored in the league since October 6 but he found the net twice in the mid-week thrashing of FC Nordsjaelland in the Champions League and was in unforgiving mood once again at the Stadium of Light.

1:41pm: GOLF: Tournament boss Trevor Herden said he had no alternative but to suspend the final day of the Australian Open today after fierce winds knocked down a television tower near the 18th green.
Herden was hopeful play would resume in the final round at The Lakes when 80 kilometre gusts eased and that the tournament would not require a Monday finish.
Tournament leader John Senden was yet to begin his final round and, barring an unlikely charge from other challengers, is set to begin with a two-stroke advantage over Englishman Justin Rose after play resumed.
