November 25, 2012: The Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips tells 60 Minutes about meeting her future husband while he was “drowning his sorrows” in Manly.
The Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips has revealed that she met her husband Mike Tindall in a Sydney bar while he was "drowning his sorrows".
Speaking exclusively to 60 Minutes in an interview that will air tonight, Phillips, 31, said the chance meeting took place at the Manly Wharf bar during the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
She said Tindall, 32, had been drinking to ease the pain of being dropped from England's squad before the semi-finals.
"It kind of went from there," Phillips said.
Phillips and Tindall married in July last year.
They are not the first high-profile couple to have met in a Sydney bar.
Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, met her husband Frederik at the Slip Inn pub while the prince was in Sydney for the 2000 Olympic Games.
