One of three bouncers who bashed a teenager at Sydney's Ivy nightclub admits the victim posed no threat to him, his colleagues or other patrons at the time he was attacked.
Jason Mendelow, 25, Paul Fenukitau, 42, and Emmanouil Ntaras, 30, have pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm in company over the bashing on August 28 last year.
Nicholas Barsoum, 19, was forced onto the ground and beaten at the George Street venue in the early hours of the morning, leaving him with internal bleeding and serious facial injuries.
The offenders lost their jobs and their security guard licences after the bashing.
Giving evidence at a sentencing hearing in the NSW District Court on Friday, Fenukitau, who faces an extra charge of common assault, said he was angry, shocked and upset after Mr Barsoum punched him, causing him to bleed and his eye to swell.
Fenukitau told the court he now regrets the whole incident.
"What I did was wrong and unacceptable," Fenukitau said.
"Every day is hard for me (and) I'm very sorry for my actions."
Fenukitau, who has six children, agreed with the crown that Mr Barsoum was face down at the time he assaulted him.
"Do you agree he didn't pose any threat to other patrons?" asked prosecutor Karl Prince.
Fenukitau replied: "That's correct."
He agreed the victim posed no threat at that point and that he should have alerted the police to the situation.
The crown is seeking jail terms for the offenders.
Judge Leonie Flannery, who continued bail for the men, will sentence the trio on December 12.
