Gunmen still at large after fatal double shooting - ABC Online

Two men remain on the run after yesterday's fatal double shooting at Punchbowl, in Sydney's south-west.

Police have spent the night at the scene of the shooting after a search involving the air and dog units failed to find the gunmen.

Authorities were called to a house on Lumeah Avenue at about 4:00pm yesterday after reports of gunshots.

Two men were shot while renovating a house, a 38-year-old was killed.

Overnight, officers have been racing against time in driving rain to gather evidence.

Police have fingerprinted and seized a work truck and an SUV, before removing a body early this morning.

The man was shot yesterday afternoon at the back of the property. It is understood he was a tiler who had bought the property last year.

The other man, believed to be an electrician, managed to stagger to the front with several gunshot wounds while two masked gunmen were seen running away.

He is in a serious condition in hospital.

The attack took place on a suburban cul-de-sac where there was another shooting earlier this year.

Local police commander Michael McLean says police do not believe it is linked to a recent string of underworld murders in Sydney's west.

"I'm quite confident there's no link with any other shootings," he said.

"This is a targeted attack."

One resident told the ABC he is shocked.

"I don't feel good, definitely, because it's just a small street, very quiet, everybody knows everybody," he said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
