TWO men are in hospital after a car crashed into a house in Sydney's south after police tried to stop the driver for a random breath test.
Police said officers tried to pull the Mazda utility over about 10.30pm (AEDT) on Monday but the car failed to stop.
Moments later the vehicle crossed four lanes of traffic on King Georges Road, Hurstville and crashed into a house.
A family of five were inside the home at the time and have been treated for shock.
The driver, a 41-year-old Ramsgate man, fled the scene, leaving his 37-year-old male passenger in the vehicle, police said.
The 41-year-old later went to St George Hospital where early on Tuesday he was undergoing mandatory blood and urine tests and surgery for a fractured knee.
His passenger was also at St George Hospital being treated for cuts and abrasions.
