Police have recovered the body of a man who drowned while on a day out with friends in western Sydney.
Officers say the man, believed to be in his 40s, took a boat out with friends yesterday afternoon when he decided to go for a swim about 11 kilometres south of the boat ramp at Jamisontown on the Nepean River.
They say he disappeared underwater and was believed to have been trapped in reeds.
St Marys police station duty officer Inspector Karen Clogher says police were able to retrieve the body.
"The body has been recovered and transferred to Glebe morgue and police do not believe that there are any suspicious circumstances regarding his death," she said.
