A bandit has threatened a petrol station attendant with a nail gun during a hold-up in Sydney's southwest.


Police said the armed robber entered the service station at Greenacre wearing a Chicago Bears jersey and sunglasses, about 3.05am (AEST) on Saturday.


The man then threatened the employee with the nail gun and made off with cash.


He was last seen running down Roberts Road.


The offender has been described as Caucasian and obese.
