Power back on in Sydney's inner west - The West Australian

Electricity has been restored to about 25,000 homes and businesses in Sydney's inner west after a fault caused a power cut of more than an hour.

Emergency crews from Ausgrid reconnected properties in Drummoyne, Balmain, Five Dock, Rozelle and Abbotsford shortly after 11am (AEST) on Monday.

Electricity supply to the area had been interrupted at 9.50am following a fault on a high-voltage powerline that supplies a substation in Drummoyne.

"Crews have now rearranged the electricity network to get the power back and will continue to make repairs to the damaged section of power line," Ausgrid said in a statement.

An Ausgrid spokeswoman said it was too early to know the exact nature of the fault.
