Now, fly Pune to Sydney, Melbourne via Delhi - Times of India



PUNE: National carrier Air India (AI) has announced new flight services to Birmingham in the UK and Sydney and Melbourne in Australia from Delhi, starting from August 1 and 29, respectively. The new services will provide apt connectivity to citizens for Pune, who plan to travel to these international destinations, via Delhi.

The AI has provided the facility of through tagging of check-in baggage at Pune for passengers travelling on AI 852 and connecting onwards to these international destinations. "Custom and Immigration will be done in transit at Delhi," AI Pune station manager Dhairyasheel Vandekar told TOI on Thursday.


"These flights will be operated with our latest Dream-liner aircraft having a seating capacity of 18 business class and 238 economy class seats," he said. "The AI is resuming flights to Australia after a gap of 16 years," he said.


"Our morning flight AI-852 from Pune to Delhi provides extremely convenient connection to these destinations via Delhi. The flight takes off from Pune at 7.40 am and lands in Delhi at 9.40 am. The onward flight for Melbourne will take off from Delhi at 1 pm, for Birmingham at 1.30 pm and for Sydney at 1.45 pm," he added.


The flights to Birmingham will commence from August 1 on four days a week basis and that for Sydney and Melbourne will commence from August 29 on daily basis, he said.


The flight to Melbourne via Sydney will operate on Mon, Tue, Thus and Sat and on remaining days it will operate to Sydney via Melbourne thus providing daily connection to these destinations, Vandekar said.
