NO, these Blue-faced chaps are not sullen NSW State of Origin fans who have just woken up from their hangover and are trying to find their way home.
These blokes are happy; glad to be out enjoying Sydney's sights - not that their expression, or lack thereof, gives you that impression.
You see, Blue Man doesn't smile. Or talk. Or refer to himself as a group, a trio, a troupe. He is Blue Man, a trinity or sorts - one character, three forms.
Engaging dinner companion he is not, but make you laugh indeed he will.
And that is exactly why Blue Man has cast off the shackles of Broadway and flown all the way to Sydney.
After debuting in a tiny off-Broadway theatre in Soho 25 years ago, the famed Blue Man Group is finally set to show Australia the unique brand of entertainment that has convinced 25 million people around the world to queue for.
What is it? We're not sure they even know. It's difficult to define, according to one of the original Blue Man performers Matt Goldman.
"I guess people can judge that for themselves," Mr Goldman said.
Is it comedy? Vaudeville? Variety? Who cares what the label says. The content is ace - three men with glossy blue faces, mesmerising the audience with the help of PVC pipe instruments, curious technology, stunning light and prop production, fluoro balls, toilet paper and paint. Loads of paint.
"The mistake that people might make is that we started out like a goof, or a lark - party entertainment," Mr Goldman said. "But even before we knew we could make a living from it, we still worked hard at it. We took it seriously for some stupid reason."
It takes a lot to turn heads in Sydney. Blue Man didn't have much trouble while wandering the streets this week, showing a deep curiosity with what the city has to offer.
It's actually how Blue Man began; trampling around New York, sitting in bars, catching the subway. All with the intention of confounding people. "He began as a social experiment," Goldman said.
The award-winning production hits Sydney's Lyric Theatre on August 11 for an anticipated run of 21 shows, before heading to Perth and Melbourne. Tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster.
