ALP signals take-off for a second Sydney airport - The Australian

THE Rudd government has signalled it would select a site for a second Sydney airport within a year of being returned to power and start construction on the project in its first term.

Transport Minister Anthony Albanese did not take the politically sensitive step of naming a site yesterday but said Sydney Airport was already congested "to the point whereby it is a handbrake on national productivity".
