Interview: Crows midfielder Nathan van Berlo
The Crows kicked just three goals in either half, as Brenton Sanderson's men were given a football lesson by the defending premiers in a 19.12 (127) to 6.13 (49) defeat.
The percentage-boosting win puts Sydney into third on the ladder.
The Swans were without former Crows forward Kurt Tippett - who will return from an AFL ban after the mid-season break.
But although Adelaide had a point to prove to the team it lost to at home in last year's qualifying final, it was Sydney that came out firing, kicking four goals to one in the opening quarter.
The visitors led by 47 points at half-time and then kicked seven goals to none in the third quarter to end the match as a contest.
Adelaide ensured the final margin stayed under 100 points, winning the final term by three goals to two.
Crows captain Nathan van Berlo told Grandstand it was hard to find positives in his team's performance.
"We're shocked at the moment, to be honest," he said.
"(It was) nowhere near good enough from us tonight.
"Sydney was so much better than us in almost every facet of the game - we were bullied around the contest, and we didn't fire a shot at any stage."
Van Berlo was extremely disappointed in the Crows' lack of intensity.
"We can't say it's a one-week bad performance, in a game where it's almost a must win for us against the premiers from last year ... (the performance) really let's everyone down," he said.
Sydney's Daniel Hannebery dominated the possession count with 42 disposals - 28 in the first half alone.
Jesse White, Mitch Morton and Ben McGlynn each kicked three for the visitors. Shaun McKernan kicked two goals for the Crows.
For Adelaide, Jared Petrenko was subbed out at half-time after sustaining a shoulder injury in a first-quarter collision with Sydney's Shane Mumford.

Interview: Geelong defender Josh Hunt
For the second week running, the Cats were given a scare by one of the league's newest teams, before eventually overwhelming their opponents in the final quarter for a 24.13 (157) to 15.8 (98) win.
Geelong's Josh Hunt told Grandstand that the win was not a satisfying one given the way the game had gone.
"It's certainly not the way we wanted to play footy," he said.
"It was just a carbon copy of last week (against Gold Coast) which is disappointing.
"We wanted to come out and have a good four-quarter performance going into the bye week - but for the first three quarters, credit to them (Giants) they played the way we wanted to play."
Hunt said Geelong had a lot to think about in the bye week.
"We certainly have a lot to work on and the scoreboard glosses over a few things we really need to work on," he said.
Any chances of an expected triple-figure thrashing went out the window in the opening quarter as the Giants began the match in brilliant form, kicking five goals without reply.
Chris Scott's men steadied in the second quarter and kicked eight goals to four, yet the visitors only led by eight points at half-time.
The Giants kept competing in an open third quarter, kicking five goals to the Cats six to leave them two goals behind at the final break.
But just when Giants fans were thinking of a huge upset, Geelong kicking eight goals to one in the final term.
Once again Giants forward Jeremy Cameron showed his class with a four-goal performance, including a second-quarter effort where he kicked the ball forward from 50 to bounce into an open goal square and roll home.
For Geelong James Podsiadly kicked five, while the Cats spread the overall load with 15 individual goalkickers.
The win leaves Geelong on top of the ladder, having played one more match than the Hawks, who have the bye.
