Robbery suspects nabbed in Sydney pub - ABC Local

Updated June 08, 2013 11:07:19

Police closed down a Sydney hotel last night so officers from the riot squad could arrest two men wanted in relation to a Tasmanian armed robbery.

The men, aged 20 and 25, are wanted for questioning over an armed robbery at a hotel in Granton, in Hobart's north, in May.

Tasmania Police alerted their New South Wales counterparts to be on the lookout for the men and last night they were spotted playing poker machines at a hotel in Sydney's south.

New South Wales policeman Inspector Sean Daley said all the hotel's patrons were escorted quietly outside before police swooped.

"Then we used our public order and riot squad police to arrest the men," he said.

"There was a possibility they were armed."

No weapons were found but one of the men was allegedly caught with methamphetamine, a drug commonly known as Ice.

The pair will appear in the Parramatta Local Court where Tasmania Police are likely to seek their extradition.
