L-plater crashes into Sydney home - NEWS.com.au

A CAR driven by a learner driver has brought the wall of a Sydney home crashing down on a sleeping woman in the middle of the night.

The 21-year-old man's Holden Commodore veered onto the pavement in Guernsey Avenue, Minto, about 2.30am (AEST) on Sunday, slammed into a parked van and shunted it into the house.

A woman, 57, who was asleep in the lounge room was trapped by the collapsed wall for an hour before rescuers got her out.

She was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver was arrested and his learner's permit suspended before being released pending further inquiries.

The home has been extensively damaged.
