Perth Glory midfielder Steven McGarry has re-signed for another season, while the son of new coach Alistair Edwards has also penned a deal with the A-League club.

Cameron Edwards has joined fellow youth international Jack Duncan as new arrivals at the Glory on two-year deals.

Edwards is a former Glory youth player who made his senior debut for the club in 2011, when he came on as a substitute against the Wellington Phoenix.

The 21-year-old then spent more than a year with English Premier League side Reading, before joining Melbourne Heart on a short-term deal last season.

Duncan, 20, was the Newcastle Jets' back-up goalkeeper last season, and is highly rated by Australia's top coaches.

"Cameron was a former Joey and under-20 international, and Jack is a current representative for the Young Socceroos,'' Alistair Edwards said.

"The squad is coming along nicely.

"The recent additions are in line with generating the appropriate balance between our excellent experienced players and the up-and-coming youth.

"Alongside recent signings Danny De Silva, Riley Woodcock and Matty Davies, they form an important part of the strategic squad regeneration.''

McGarry has notched 88 games for the Glory since arriving in Perth in 2010 and, last month, took out the club's Most Glorious Player award.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC have boosted their sometimes fragile defence for next A-League season by signing dual premiership winner Matt Jurman on a one-year deal.

Jurman was part of Sydney FC's 2009-10 championship-premiership double before emulating that success with the Brisbane Roar in 2011/12.

The 23-year-old, who played all of his junior football in Sydney, returns to the club where he spent two seasons before moving to Brisbane.

"When I was here before, I was basically a young kid trying to work my trade and, since then, I think I've grown up a lot and I've got a lot of experience playing with Brisbane and the Olyroos,'' said Jurman.

"I'm definitely a lot more experienced and I want to be playing as much as I can.''

Sydney FC released defenders Fabio Alves and Adam Griffiths last month and coach Frank Farina welcomed Jurman's decision to join as he seeks a squad that can be a factor in the finals next season after missing out last season.

"<att Jurman is a good left-sided defender and he's a valuable addition to our team,'' Farina said.

Jurman felt confident Sydney FC, who boast superstar Alessandro Del Piero, were on the right track under Farina, who took over as the club struggled early last season.

"The way the team was playing at the end of the year, you could tell that they were playing a lot better obviously,'' said Jurman.

"I think they were a bit unlucky (not to make the finals) in the end but I think everyone's going to be hungry to have a big season next year and so am I, so it will work out well.''
