ADAM Reynolds isn't part of Laurie Daley's NSW plans, but his South Sydney teammates believe the gritty halfback will help shut Melbourne's Cooper Cronk out of Saturday's blockbuster.
Cronk is leading the Dally M medal voting after five rounds, while Reynolds has earned many fans for his high-level play.
And calls for the 22-year-old Reynolds to make his representative debut, including the City v Country clash, will grow louder if he holds his own against the Storm.
Rabbitohs forward Chris McQueen said it was possible to nullify Cronk, who is the game's leading halfback.
"I think you can," McQueen said. "Defence is a big part of what we do here at Souths and we just have to make sure that's right if we are to shut down their plays.
"We'll just have to win the play the ball, slow that down and get our kick pressure.
"Get some people getting the line up and pressuring his kicks.
"Then hopefully we can put him off a little bit."
