HEAVY rainfall overnight has again raised serious doubts about Black Caviar's appearance in Sydney this weekend.

The Randwick track was rated a Slow 7 yesterday before rain early this morning pushed the surface into the heavy zone.

The latest downpour comes after the racecourse was hit hard twice last week as rain continues to lash the harbour city.

Trainer Peter Moody has repeatedly stated that Black Caviar will not run if the track is heavy.

She is among 17 entries for the Group 1 $1 million weight-for-age TJ Smith (1200m).

The champion mare is the headline act on ATC Australian Derby Day, with the club spending heavily on marketing and promoting Black Caviar running in the TJ Smith.

Randwick will be at absolute capacity on Saturday, with 26,000 expected to be trackside to watch the super mare chase her 25th consecutive win as her farewell tour up the Eastern seaboard continues.

There are encouraging signs for the rest of the week with occasional showers forecast and temperatures rising into the high 20s by Friday.

If those conditions were to prevail the track could quite easily slip back into the dead zone. With only one meeting at Randwick for several months, the surface should be in excellent condition.
