A MAN stabbed in Sydney's southwest remains heavily sedated in hospital after undergoing surgery.
Police and paramedics were called to a block of units at Villawood about 6.40pm (AEST) on Monday to find the 42-year-old outside a unit block with three stab wounds.
The man's girlfriend rushed to his aid from a nearby unit after hearing him screaming, police said.
He was taken to Liverpool Hospital with injuries to his back, chest and neck.
The man has undergone surgery and remains heavily sedated in hospital in a serious condition, police said on Tuesday.
