A CRITICAL incident team will investigate the death of a man who fell from the fifth floor of a south-west Sydney hospital.
Police were called to Liverpool Hospital about 9.40am (AEST) on Saturday to negotiate with a 33-year-old who was trying to throw himself out a fifth-floor window.
After hours of negotiation, just after 11.30pm, the man fell from a ledge outside the window to the ground below.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said early on Sunday that a critical incident investigation team from the Campbelltown Local Area Command would investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation will be overseen by the Professional Standards Command and a report prepared for the coroner.
