Carjack victim: It's horrible

A carjacking victim, who asked not to be named, gives her account of being attacked at a traffic light in the city's southwest.

The victim of an aborted alleged carjacking in Sydney's west has told how she feared for her life while held up at knifepoint and now doubts whether she will be able to drive through the same busy street corner again.

The 45-year-old woman was stopped at an intersection in Liverpool, in the city's southwest, about 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon when a man with a knife allegedly approached.

"I didn't really hear the noise but I [saw] somebody's hand, coming in ... my doors," said the woman, who Fairfax Media has agreed not to name.

"The doors suddenly opened. He was swearing and [said] we [would] go for a ride."

She refused but two other men had allegedly approached the car from behind.

"When I heard the door open from the back side [I thought] 'Oh my God it's not only one'," she said.

She got out of the car and screamed.

"I thought if I get out of this car I'm not sure what will happen to me," she said. "I was fearing for my life."

She tearfully recalled feeling desperate while her screams were ignored.

"Behind me there was one or two cars at least," she said. "I was looking for somebody to help me ... but they didn't know what was going on."

In the end, confusion saved her.

Her recollection is hazy but she said she thought that as she took her foot off the car's brake, it rolled forward over the leg of the first alleged carjacker. As the other two moved to help him, she drove away.

"You can't even [think about] what kind of decision you've got to make, you just gotta make them," she said

"It was a miracle that I got out.

"Now I'm even scared to go [shopping] in Liverpool. I'm just scared. I'm not sure I can do it."

Police have charged one of the alleged perpetrators.

The woman was unable to provide a description of the other two offenders.
