JULIA Gillard will today praise the "endeavour" of western Sydney residents as she begins her week-long tour of the Labor heartland with a pitch to the aspirations of the suburban class.

In a speech at the University of Western Sydney tonight, the Prime Minister will highlight Labor's role in building the western Sydney community and commit her government to making sure "that areas like Sydney's west and the people who live and work here get a fairer share of what they create".
