Politicians take us for mugs at their peril - The Australian (blog)



IF Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott want to better understand why voters are disillusioned with modern politics, and why their personal ratings are so low, they need look no further than the way they have conducted themselves this week.



Let's start with the chaos emanating out of Victorian state politics. Powerbrokers within the Liberal Party forced Ted Baillieu out of office halfway into his first term as premier. It followed a period of backgrounding, white-anting, speculation about possible leadership candidates and a parliamentary resignation from the Liberal Party caucus.
